How to Start a Small Sticker Shop With Digital Designs

How to Start a Small Sticker Shop With Digital Designs

I recently ordered a few sticker samples with my own RubiBloom illustrations, mostly because I wanted to see how the designs would look in real life.

And honestly, it made me think: starting a small sticker shop can be much simpler than it looks.

You do not always need to create a huge collection from scratch. Sometimes one cute digital design is enough to test an idea, make a few samples and slowly build your first little product line.

Start with one design

If you are just beginning, choose one design that already feels strong on its own. It can be a cute animal, a cozy quote, a seasonal illustration, a bookish design, a floral element or anything that fits the feeling of your shop.

With a ready-to-use PNG file, you can usually upload the artwork to a sticker printing service, print-on-demand platform or small batch manufacturer. Some people use Printify or Printful, others prefer local print shops, AliExpress, Temu or any option that feels easier for their budget and location.

The first step does not have to be perfect. It can simply be a small test.

One design can become more than one sticker

Example of turning one RubiBloom digital illustration into multiple sticker ideas, showing a PNG and SVG journal design transformed into cute printed stickers on a notebook with small decorative elements for sticker sheets, planners and small shop products.

Many RubiBloom designs include little extra details like stars, flowers, leaves, bows, hearts or sparkles.

That means one design can turn into more than one product idea. You can use the main illustration as a large sticker, then turn the smaller decorative elements into tiny stickers for a sticker sheet or mini sticker pack.

For example, one cute illustration could become:

  • one die-cut sticker
  • a small sticker sheet
  • a matching sticker pack
  • packaging freebies
  • little decorative stickers for planners or journals

This is one of my favorite parts of working with digital designs. You can take one idea and gently build a whole little collection around it.

Order samples if you can

Printed sticker samples created with RubiBloom digital designs, showing colorful handmade-style stickers, cozy character illustrations and positive quote stickers for sticker shops, packaging freebies, planners, notebooks and small business product ideas.

Before selling stickers, I really recommend ordering samples. It helps you see the colors, size, cut line, finish and overall quality in real life.

It is also helpful for content. You can take your own photos, show the stickers in your hands, place them near notebooks or packaging, and make the product feel more real to your customers.

Sometimes a simple sample photo says more than a perfect mockup.

Keep your first launch small

You do not need twenty products to begin🙌🏻

A first sticker launch can be very small:

  • 3 individual stickers
  • 1 sticker sheet
  • 1 themed sticker pack
  • 1 cute seasonal design
  • 1 freebie sticker for your packaging

A small collection is easier to test, photograph and improve. You can always add more designs later when you understand what people like most.

A quick note about using digital designs

If you are just starting a small sticker shop, you do not need to buy an extra license right away.

RubiBloom PNG & SVG designs already include small commercial use for up to 300 finished physical products per design. This means you can test your idea, create sticker samples, make a small batch and start selling finished physical stickers within that limit.

If your shop grows, or if you want to create a larger collection with higher sales volume, you can always upgrade with an extended commercial license.

The only important rule: the original digital files cannot be resold, shared, copied or redistributed as-is.

Final thought

Starting a sticker shop does not have to feel huge or scary.

You can begin with one design, order a few samples, take photos and see how it feels. Maybe it becomes a full product collection. Maybe it simply helps you understand your style better🙃

Either way, it is a sweet and creative way to test a small business idea without needing everything to be perfect from the beginning.
